I am missing one tooth
A single missing tooth is not trivial: over time, it unbalances the whole mouth. Replacing it protects your other teeth and restores everyday comfort.

Why replace a missing tooth?
A tooth may be lost after an accident, an infection or an extraction. If the gap is left empty, the balance of the mouth gradually changes:
Neighbouring teeth move: they tilt into the gap, and the opposing tooth drops down, sometimes until it becomes loose.
The bone shrinks where the tooth is missing, and this loss does not recover on its own.
Decay and infections become more frequent, as shifted teeth are harder to clean.
Chewing is less efficient, which can make digestion more difficult.

Possible solutions
At your consultation, your dentist presents the solutions suited to your situation.
The implant
It is generally the preferred solution. A titanium root is placed in the bone, then fitted with a crown. The neighbouring teeth remain intact.
The bridge
When the neighbouring teeth are already weakened, a bridge may be considered: it rests on them to replace the missing tooth.
The removable partial denture
It shortens treatment time, but is less durable and less comfortable day to day.
