Post-operative advice
A few simple steps in the days after implant placement support good healing and limit discomfort. Here is what to expect and our recommendations.
What is normal
Recovery after implant placement is usually straightforward. In the first few days, you may feel slight discomfort, nothing more.
Occasionally, there may be light bleeding during the first 48 hours or slight swelling. More rarely, some discolouration of the skin may appear.
The medication you have been prescribed is there to keep you as comfortable as possible.

Our recommendations
As soon as you get home, apply ice (in a bag) to the treated area. Take the prescribed medication at the correct dose, even if you are not in pain: this prevents lasting discomfort from setting in.
On the other hand, avoid:
hot food and drinks for 48 hours;
very hard food;
mouthwash for 24 hours;
smoking and alcohol;
opening your mouth wide or stretching your lips.
