Root canal treatment
Root canal treatment, or endodontics, treats the inside of a tooth when its nerve is affected. It allows you to keep your tooth rather than having it extracted.

When is a root canal needed?
When the nerve of a tooth is inflamed or infected, deep treatment is necessary.
Most often, the tooth becomes very sensitive to hot and cold, or an infection appears around it. But these signs sometimes go unnoticed: your dentist then detects the need for treatment during the examination.

The steps of the treatment
Local anaesthesia
It keeps you comfortable throughout the procedure.
Cleaning the tooth
Through a small opening, we gently remove the affected nerve and clean the inside of the tooth and its roots.
Filling
The canals are filled with a biocompatible material, then the tooth is closed with a temporary filling.

Precise care under the microscope
The canals of a tooth are very fine. Our magnifying loupes and Zeiss microscope magnify and light up the work area: they help locate additional canals and treat even the most complex roots.

After the treatment
A root-treated tooth is more fragile. At a following appointment, we protect it durably, most often with a crown.
In the meantime:
do not chew with the treated tooth;
take the prescribed painkillers at the correct dose if needed.
