Treating periodontal disease
Our treatment is based on protocols that have been described and validated in the scientific literature for many years. It always follows the same three steps, adapted to the severity of each case.
Do you smoke? Let's talk about it
Smoking is one of the main causes of periodontal disease. Without tobacco, gums heal better, more treatments are possible and results are more reliable and longer-lasting.
Solutions exist: contact us and we will put them in place with you.
Remove the infection
We remove the bacterial reservoirs: plaque and tartar, above and below the gum, down to the bottom of the periodontal pockets.
At the same time, we show you the oral hygiene routine suited to your mouth: the success of the treatment also depends on what you do at home every day.
Restore good function
Efficient chewing is essential to the health of the periodontium.
If teeth are missing or need to be extracted, we replace them to restore balanced chewing and spread the forces better across all the teeth.
Stabilise loose teeth
In advanced cases, some teeth become loose. We then join them together, like a splint that attaches a broken finger to its neighbour.
Together, the teeth work more efficiently and the periodontium of each tooth is under less strain. This is called splinting.
Two splinting options
The splinting wire
A thin wire bonded to the back of the teeth. This solution can be considered for around 5 to 7 years.
The periodontal splinting bridge
Ceramic crowns joined together that hold the teeth in place while improving the appearance of the smile, for patients who also want to enhance their smile.
